Asian hair color?

i'm korean so my hair is black. I wanted to dye myhair red but after realizing that not only will it be a hassle to keep it looking good, it might look kinda weird on my yellowish skintone. I notice alot of other asian girls have this mahogny hair color and i think it looks good but i want to be able to stand out. Any ideas? I say asian because sometimes mynatural hair color doesnt react to hair dye like white girl's do.. if anyone understands

Hmm. this is a tuffy and i work in the beauty industry! If i were you..i would see a professional. I recommend that you start off small and try some auburn/burgundy hi-lites in your hair. This will be less damaging and less of a hassle to keep up. Good Luck!

you can try going to a wig store to see if you like any colors and how they look on you. Not to actually buy a wig, but to just check out the colors on your skin and face. facial structure is more importanat than skin color when it comes to dying your hair. I've seen many asain girls with red hair and it looks qiute nice indeed. I dyed my hair red, and yes it is a hassel to keep the color, but I was(and am) commited untill I want a change.

also if your still not sure, but youreally want the color, get some highllights here and there, to start you off.

Asian hair color?

Let me start off by saying that lots of white and black girls envy asians for their straight glossy hair that doesn't even frizz up in humidity. So in my opinion its totally worth it to have Asian hair, even if it is a challenge to color.

But I can totally understand wanting a style that stands out. So here's a thought....

Cut and texture can make a style stand out much more than color can. Maybe you could opt for something layered and mid-neck length, kind of piecy and fluffy, with slices of hair that fall over the eyes/cheekbones. Cutting it a little shorter in the back can make a style extra gutsy. But if you still like the thought of color, that's what highlights are for! You could get one or two chunky blonde or brunette highlights....and maybe even braid those sections to make them really stand out.....I hope I helped.........^_^.

i`m filipino! aand i had red hi-lites before. it looked good!

you just need to make sure you will maintain the color cuz red comes otu easily.. you can even see it when u take a shower! but just go for it :) good luck!

Congratulations. Being Asian with fair skin will enable you to take on all colours and styles successfully. I have tried blonde, brown, red myself. Mahogany will look really good on you but it's much too common. Because we have naturally black hair so what you see on the dye-package may not be the actual results, therefore, choose the colour you like then buy it two shades lighter.

i think for a Korean girl like u subtle brown highlights r the best bet

it wont make u look weird

i'm asian too. i found out that even if you dye your hair red. it'll stay red for about a week, then it'll fade to a rich, light, brown color. even with a yellow skin tone, it will still look good. just try not to tan a lot if you plan to dye your hair.

Asian hair color?

o my gosh I've been waiting for this question..i think that instead of dying it one solid color you should highlight it with some browns and dirty blond...one of my best friends is Japanese and she just did that to her hair and it looks AMAZING!...when she first told me she was going to do that i had my doubts about it but when i saw her i fell in love with it.

Asian hair color?

I understand what you're saying. I'm asian too and it is really hard for me to get my hair the color i want it to be because it's black. My mom is a hairdresser and all her girlfriends that work at her shop say the same thing to me when i color my hair.. "you have to bleach it and get rid of the black color if you want it to turn out right."

It sucks because it'll look good for a while and then the color you dye it will fade and you'll be back to that regular yucky bleache color. If you just try to dye it red without bleaching that will eventually fade too and your hair will be coppery/mahogony.

If you really want your hair red a suggest temporary dye. My mom uses it and it last for a couple months. And when it goes away and her hair is back to black, she does it again. This will stop you from getting the permanent ugly faded colors.

And as for your skin being yellow, that's fine don't worry. I've seen asian girls with red hair. I bet you could pull it off.
