um, well do you mean dark hair? you'd have to bleach it for sure, and although i have many asian friends i know very little specifics about the nature of their hair. if it's particularly dry, try to avoid chemicals that would dye it out, like bleach and dye because it will only ruin it

Do you have black Asian hair? Why, why, why would you want to dye it??????? Asians have the most BEAUTIFUL hair of any race, in my opinion.

if it's very dark you will have to bleach it to lighten it. i would just do a wash of a red or blue if your hair is very dark brown or black to give it a subtle color.

Whatever you do, don't use a box color and expect it to come out the color of the swatch. Asian hair is very dark and very coarse, so it takes very strong chemicals to get it to change color. Fortunatly, the coarsness of your hair allows it to be able to handle much stronger chemicals without becoming over processed.

If you're doing punk rock colors like red or blue or something, definatly bleach it out first and then put the color on it. However if you want good looking highlights, go to a salon. Unless you want the bleached out to be all over, i wouldn't attempt it. Bleach spreads out as it processes and messes up everything around it, so it might make your head look like a spotty mess!
