My BFF got a perm and she is Thai. Her natural hair is bone straight. After she got the perm, her hair actually didn't "take it". It was still pretty straight, poofy, and dry. Needless to say, she never tried it again. Regardless, that doesn't guarantee you will get the same results. Good luck!

The answer is no if you go to a salon which uses a reputable professional brand.

It will take some up keep as your roots will look flat as they grow but as you don't have dead straight hair you should be ok.

I have done hundreds of perms and it is very safe provided you have it done in a decent salon.

Remember it is very important that for the first few days you do very little to it. The first week is crucial to how your perm lasts and looks. No combing no brushing or even washing for first 2 days and then for next few days be very gentle with it to allow the perm to settle down. Then you can treat it as normal.

Good luck.

Only if you don't take care of your hair, anytime you add a chemical to your hair, there is more maintence to do, to keep it looking nice.
