How do I manage my Asian hair?

I'm an Asian guy, and I notice that whenever I shampoo, my hair really just looks like an unsettling wire mesh for the next few days or so and doesn't really have any desirable definition to it. I notice that without shampooing for that period and instead just rinsing my hair well with water when showering, I get comments on how nice my hair is. The only bad part about this is that my hair obviously doesn't feel as clean as it could be.

So does anyone know of any hair styling products that I could use that give the same nice appearance but allow me to shampoo more often because I can just apply the product in the morning?

I'm in the same situation as you, as I am also Asian. Try looking into pomade since you mention hair gel. It gives you a nice texture but without the wet look gel gives you.
