A lot of my Black girlfriends don't like their hair..the upkeep it takes to keep it straight, the fact that they can't wash it whenever they want or as easily as White or Asian girls can, the fact that they have to spend forever at the hair salon, that their hair is so dang greasy, etc. Do most Black girls wish their hair was easier to take care of?

Do Black women wish they had White or Asian hair? well well i have black friends who taught like this but after when i gave them indian hair tips and it worked for them they stop thinking like this. my black friends used to always tell me oh you are so lucky to have indian hair i told them my hair is just like anyone else and it only grows because of hair products i used. they always taught indians hair were more manegable however i gave them a bigger picture on what we indian girls do to our hair when we are younger. i think your black freinds have a white man mentality and need to stop being insecure because in life their is more important things then just hair. one black friend (i always mention her in here) she doesnt spend hrs on her hair she used henna treatments and cocount oil and whats the result long kinky hair she has now. black women who think like this should learn to love themselves and stop being obsess with other race hair believe me im indian and having lonk silky hair wasnt easy it took me years to grow long hair

b: I don't know the type of people you've been conversing with but why wouldn't they be able to wash their hair whenever they'd like?

c: I spend approx one hour in the salon. That's not forever.

d. They may use unnecessary products in their hair, like grease or oil. Your hair has natural oils, additional oil is not necessary.
I love my hair, whether I wear it straight or if I wash it and leave it curly.
I think a lot of Black women have a love/hate relationship with their hair. Once a lot of them realize hair does not define them, they'll be a lot better off.
And to the person who posed the question, I understand you are curious but my question is why? Why do you care either way? Hair is hair. Whether you be black, white, brown, yellow, whatever.

I've been doing it myself for so long, shampoo%26amp; condition, wet set, roll it up every night. Or press and curl and roll it up every night. Sounds like some sistas are just lazy and need to start taking care of their hair better than what their doing, and they won't complain.

I can wash my hair 3times a day, once a day, once a week, or further in between if I like. (Yes I'm all Black. Do Black women wish they had White or Asian hair? We're told not to wash it every day, because we do not produce the natural oils that other people produce. Our hair and skin can be very dry. Our hair requires extra moisture to keep it manageable. It sometimes, takes longer than an hour at the salon, because our hair is so thick and course, that it takes extra time to MANAGE and get that stuff under control.
No, we don't want white or asian hair, we just want manageable, long, healthy easy-to-do hair.

But I don't think it was I wish I had "white or asian" hair, it was just wanting straight, bouncy hair. I like to think of it more along the lines as someone with curly hair wanting straight hair or visa-versa, not necessarily a race issue.
Now that I'm older and wiser (haha); I love my own hair. I like it best in braids and I'm no longer envious or wishing for something else. I don't have to spend forever in the salon, I do my haircare at home (except cuts) and my hair is not greasy. Just things you learn as you get older.
I think we all go thru something like that at one time or another. The key is to work with what you got!

Its doesn't matter what race we all have hair problems some Asians may complain that even though there hair is straight it may be frizzy also or 2 limp .White girls also may have the same problem it can be frizzy wavy curly or whatever so for me I don't want or wish I had Asian hair but I do wish my hair was longer like before I had it cut because I messed my hair up with dyes and stuff.I'm learning how to take care of my hair so the salon thing I don't do unless its a major event coming up.And I kinda like not worrying about my hair when it rains lol :p
P.S. It also depends on the type of girl you may asked.We all want healthy hair I would think no matter the race.

Caucasion hair is long but its thin because they dont have all 3 parts of the hair follicle. Some black females have a hard time maintain their hair but we have the best hair
Do Black women wish they had White or Asian hair? unfortunenately most wish they had straight hair, that's why they straighten it and stay away from water so it wont 'go back' as they say, which is a darned shame because if they only left it alone and wore it the way God intended they could swim and not live their lives around their hair.
I stopped straightening my hair a few months ago, and i've never experienced such freedom. Afro hair is awesome, and if AA women would realize that, they wouldn't stress so much about straight hair.

Even if I go natural and style it,%26amp; my hair will still look good and in style. I grease my scalp to keep my hair healthy, but not too greasy. You see, if you know anything about grease they have all types of grease for black hair (light grease to heavy grease). We can even put a weave in and majority of the time, one can't tell whether it belongs to us or not. We can even rock dreadlocks and depending how she maintains it, the locs will look good. We can get an updo that would last for more than a week. So you see, we as black girls and black women have many many options.
